Harlequin Covers on display - what does this tell us about ourselves?

I'm a reader, not an author. I think the covers reveal a lot about the general social climate. I think the older covers actually said more. Looking at them, you got a pretty good feel for the story. Many of today's covers focus on the body or sex. While that may make for interesting covers, it really doesn't give much insight into the story.
