Book & Cat Lovers: Please help support my cause

Hi everyone,

For those of you who are book & cat lovers - I ask you to please donate to my cause. My cat, LuLu, died this week at the age of 13. It is with the deepest sadness that I think of him. In order to feel as if I am doing something useful to the cats in shelters who need are support and love, I am asking you to donate in the memory of my beloved cat Lewis. I ask only for whatever donation you can give, but it would help me to overcome my extreme sadness and loss to feel as if I am using my connections to help support the animals who need us. Animals gives us so much and as book lovers, I know many of you also love cats, reading with your cats (or dogs), and that you understand this unique bond that develops.

Build a Hero

I thought I would like to do this slowly rather than all at once so over the next few weeks we can build our own hero (and we might come up with the ideal). I will add one "piece" at a time and the idea is to also comment as to why you prefer the option you do do. If you can't decide, then tell us why. Most of us have things we prefer out heroes to have or be and it would be interesting to find out what everyone likes.

On the navigation bar, you will find a title Build a Hero which is where we will have our fun.

Sad News & Why I've been Quiet

Hi Everyone,

Sorry I've been somewhat quiet on the boards recently. I received very sad news regarding a good friend and author. Shirley Tallman, who was featured here last week, lost her son in a freak boating accident in South Africa last weekend. This was devastating news and I can't tell you how sad I was to hear it. Shirley Tallman is not only a brilliant author, but she is an amazing person. She is probably one of the truly nicest people I have ever had the honor of knowing, both professionally and personally. She is the last person i would want to have to go through this. Her son was just recently married and was young, he was also a very talented musician. This sad news was incredibly hard to hear about. I hope we can all send our prayers and thoughts to Shirley Tallman during this extremely difficult time for her family.
