I was entering the shopping mall on Saturday and was about to rush past a group of males. There were three in all. I looked up, then slowed my step and thought to myself I think I will follow these males. What made me do this? I was struck by the back view as these males walked along. One in particular caught my eye. I can't quite explain why. Whether it was the way he walked, his shape (nice wide shoulders but not too wide and moving down to the narrower hips, not unlike a swimmer). I began to think about whether this male would be best suited to an historical novel or contemporary or a paranormal. As I returned from my musings, sadly the three had turned to the left and I had to go to the right. But I wondered if anyone else, when struck by something similar, tries to see if he might suit a romance novel. Or you could tell me about what your thoughts are about the back view when walking behind a male.

Waist

So we like eyes, hair and some like hair on the bodies. What about that stomach or waist area? Do we like the smaller waist or the slightly thicker waistline? Of course, let's also comment on the hair and should it go down there!

The Chest

All of us have an opinion about a man's chest and how it should look.

What do you think? Without a shirt - Should that chest be rippling with muscle so the pecs and the abs standout as soon as he stands or even breaths in or out? Could you stand there and watch those abs and pecs moving as he breaths? Or would the hair on the hair be a distraction? Do you prefer your hero to have a hairy chest (to run your fingers through that hair), a smattering of hair or do you prefer the "hair doesn't grow on steel" look.

My friends are very mixed about hair on the chest. I wonder if it is the same around the world?

Facial hair

Our heroes come in many forms and have many different features. We have looked at eye color, hair length, and moustache or not.

Should our hero be clean shaven, stubble or beard?

Or does this depend entirely on whether he is a in a paranormal, historical or contemporary?

Thank you to those who responded reagrding our hero's eye colour. From those who commented so far the blue eyes have it. If any others would like to comment and add their opinion you are still welcome to do so.

The next feature is hair. For this I want to ask about color and length. You will notice I am keeping the question as basic as possible so as not to influence any of you but I want to hear your opinions.

Do you prefer blond, brown, black or red hair? Also tell us why.

Do you prefer long or short hair? Again tell us why.

I have to say many people contributed to this idea across these message boards.

We will attempt to build the best hero. It is easy for us to look at a picture and say yes he is nice or no I don't like him as we often have a picture in our mind of what we really like.

Instead of making a survey and taking a poll, I thought it would be interesting to actually find out why some feature is signiifcant as some women like the eyes, some the rear view and others may absolutely dislike a particular feature.

The first feature I want to do is the eyes.

What is you preference in terms of eye color? Do you like blue, brown, green, grey or hazel?

Just post to this entry and also explain why you like that feature.
